Annual Assessment Camp of the Air Wing Cadets of NCC
The second phase of the Annual Assessment Camp of the Air Wing (Boys) Cadets of the National Cadet Corps was conducted at the Sri Lanka Air Force CTS Diyatalawa from 02nd to 10th May 2014. The Passing out Parade of the Air Wing Cadet Camp was held on 10th May 2014 and Major General HMHA Herath the Director of the National Cadet Corps took the salute of the Parade as the Chief Guest of this occasion.
The Annual Assessment Camp was convened under the patronage of the School Commanding Officer Group Captain WWPD Fernando. The parade was conducted under the guidance of the Acting Commanding Officer of SLAF Combat Training School Wing Commander GPNC Piyasena.
The parade was commanded by MWO Kahaduwa H. S. K from Royal College, Colombo.
The cadets of the Air Wing very enthusiastically improved their knowledge and skills about the Air Force and other subjects with the aim of facing the tests and competitions at the end of the camp. The subjects covered included Map Reading, First–Aid, Leadership and Field Craft; Drill, Compass March and Confidence Building Course.
After a close competition, Maliyadewa Boys’ School secured the First place whilst the 2nd and 3rd places were won by Risikala Aesthetic College and Kingswood College Kandy respectively.
The senior officers of the Sri Lanka Army, Air Force and the National Cadet Corps, principals, teachers, well wishers and the students of respective schools and their parents also witnessed this colourful event.
