Admission Criteria
Intake
A maximum of 30 student officers per batch including the officers from Sri Lanka Army Navy and friendly foreign countries will be enrolled for the Junior Command and Staff Course. The number of Air Force officers will be determined by the Directorate of Training at Air Force Headquarters depending on the requirement.
Eligibility
An officer is eligible for admission to the course of study leading to the Post Graduate Diploma provided the officer meets one of the following conditions.
The Officer has to be a Commissioned Officer in the rank of Squadron Leader/Major/Lieutenant Commander or below, with a minimum of seven (07) years of service,
The Officer has to be a Commissioned Officer having a Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized university with minimum of five (05) years of commissioned service.
Selection Procedure
Air Force Officers
The Directorate of Training at Air Force Headquarters will intimate respective Directors of all branches of the availability of vacancies per course. Then a selection board will be appointed by each directorate to select officers for the course based on a selection criterion as applicable to the respective directorate. The board proceedings of the selection board with nominees and stand by nominees will be forwarded to Director Training for onward processing and for approval by the Commander of the Air Force. Once the list of nominees is finalized, it will be received by the College for preliminary arrangements for commencement of the course. Further, on receipt of such confirmation, the college will dispatch the preparatory note to nominees in order to organize themselves for course in advance.
Army and Navy Officers
The Directorate of Training at Air Force Headquarters will intimate Army and Navy Headquarters about the availability of vacancies per course in order to submit their nominations based on respective service selection criteria fulfilling the requirements
Foreign Officers
The Director of Training of AFHQ will intimate Foreign Nations through respective High Commission/ Embassy about the availability of vacancies for courses in order to submit their nominations based on respective service selection criteria.
