SLAF Academy China Bay celebrated its 51st   formation day on 3rd April 2012. The SLAF Academy China Bay launched its mission as a station on 3rd April 1961 and transformed in to an Academy since 1976.

The Commandant of the SLAF Academy Air Commodore SK Pathirana inspected the formation parade and addressing the personnel, expressed his gratitude to all the past and present staff and civilian workers for today’s success story. The parade was then followed by a fatigue programme to improve the cleanliness of the surroundings of China Bay Bodhirajaramaya Temple and the religious observances were made on the day following with the participation of clergy from all religions.
