The quarter finals of “Guwan Prathibha Prabha – 2012” were staged at the SLAF Base Katunayake yesterday (30th July 2012). In keeping with a concept of the Chairperson of the Sri Lanka Air Force Seva Vanitha Unit (SVU), Mrs Neelika Abeywickrema, “Guwan Prathiba Prabha” was initiated during the year 2011, to bring out the talents in Singing, Dancing, Acting and Oratory from the service personnel and their family members.

The talent search encompasses 4 stages. The first stage is at Station level where the most suitable candidates are identified by the respective Station Commanders. Stage two which is the Quarter Final, is held under the auspice of the SLAF SVU judged by a panel of professional judges from the entertainment industry. Stages three and four are the Semi-finals and the Finals respectively where the contestants would be further narrowed down.

There was keen enthusiasm seen among the participants at yesterday’s event, who were judged by some of the leading professionals to the likes of Mr. Chandrakumara Kandanarachchi, Mr. Sanath Wimalasiri and Mr. Somasiri Fernando judging the vocal abilities; Mrs. Jayawanthi Panibharatha, Mrs.Vindya Warakagoda and Prof. Karunarathna Bandara judging the dancing category; Mr. Edward Chandrasiri, Mr. Bandula Vithanage and Mr. Senevirathne Rodrigo judging drama category and Mrs. Indika Chandrathilake, Mrs. Deepthi Fonseka and Mr. Priyantha Kodippily judging the Oratory.
