Mercedes Trophy Sri Lanka Country Finals Golf Tournament 2013

The Eagles’ Golf Links was the venue of the Mercedes Trophy Sri Lanka Country Finals - 2013 on 29th June 2013 at the Sri Lanka Air Force’s own Golf Links in the picturesque settings of China Bay, close to the harbor city of Trincomalee.
The challenge was spiced up with enjoyable and unique rounds of golf on Bermuda grass fairways comprising a 18 hole course with remote sand bunkers, roughs and of course doglegs right and left. The golfers however, rose to the challenge and displayed excellent performance throughout the tournament.
The Mercedes Trophy Sri Lanka Country Finals- 2013 was hosted by Diesel & Motor Engineering PLC Ltd. Seventy two enthusiastic golfers which included Sidath Wettimuny, Arjuna Fernando, Milinda Rathnayake, Sunl Udalagama, Prasanna Goonethilleke S Jegatheeswaran, Usha De Silva and Niloo Jayathilake took part in the tournament. The Chief of Staff of the SLAF, Air Vice Marshal Kolitha Gunatilleke and the Chairman SLAF Golf, Air Vice Marshal KVB Jayampathy, also participated in the tournament.
The awards were given away at the Awards night held at Hotel ‘Chaaya Blu’Trincomalee during the evening of the same day. The Commander of the Air Force Air Marshal Harsha Abeywickrama was present on the links and at the evening's awards night to watch the golfers in action and to give away the awards. The results of the event are as follows
Group A - Handicap 0 to 12
Winner Sidath Wettimuny 31 points
1st Runner Up Arjuna Fernando 31 points
2nd Runner Up Ivor Maharoof 26 points
Group B - Handicap 13 to 20
Winner Milinda Rathnayake 35 points
1st Runner Up Sunil Udalagama 32 points
2nd Runner Up Erajh Gunaratne 30 points
Group C- Handicap 21 to 24
Winner Prasanna Goonetilleke 38 points
