His Royal Highness Prince Charles Flies With Helitours

Heir to the British throne HRH Prince Charles who represents Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth at the ongoing Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) flew to Nuwara Eliya on Helitours this morning (16 November 2013). HRH who was accorded a red carpet welcome on arrival at SLAF’s Rifle Green, was received by the Commander of the Air Force Air Marshal Harsha Abeywickrama.

The Prince of Wales along with a delegation took off for Nuwara Eliya on two chartered Helitours MI 17 Helicopters. The contingent will spend today in Sri Lanka's hill country. In Kandy the Prince will be visiting the iconic Temple of the Tooth Relic, the British Garrison Cemetery and the historic Peredeniya Botanical Gardens. Moving on to Nuwara Eliya, he will visit tea estates too. (www.defence.lk)

Prince Charles and Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall arrived in Sri Lanka on a three-day visit to attend the CHOGM 2013. The Prince of Wales last visited Sri Lanka in 2005 and previously in 1998. This will be The Duchess of Cornwall’s first official visit to Sri Lanka.
