“Herons Cottage” Holiday Home Opens at Nuwara Eliya

The Commander of the Sri Lanka Air Force Air Marshal Harsha Abeywickrama declared open the newly constructed holiday home “Herons Cottage” at Nuwara Eliya on 29th November 2013.

The picturesque view and the lush green surroundings overlooking a stunningly beautiful Tea estate will no doubt attract holiday dwellers to Nuwara Eliya to enjoy the latest facilities available in the holiday home in the cool salubrious climes of ‘Little England’. The facility consists of three fully furnished luxury rooms with attached bathrooms with hot water facility, a timber loft, Open veranda, sitting area, a fully equipped kitchen with modern cooking apparatus, separate staff and common dining facility capable of catering to six personnel (three couples) at a time.

The project was totally designed and built by the Directorate of Civil Engineering of the Sri Lanka Air Force. Fifteen Civil Engineering Trade personnel attached to SLAF Station Pidurutalagala under the Special Project Engineer, Flying Officer BWU Prabath continued the construction almost around the clock to complete the project according to the scheduled timeframe.

Director Logistic Air Vice Marshal KVB Jayampathy, Director Civil Engineering Air Vice Marshal CR Gurusinghe, the Commanding Officer Civil Engineering Wing, Group Captain HWMU Wijesinghe, Commanding Officer SLAF Station Piduruthalagala Wing Commander JMCR Jayasunndara, project architect Wing Commander SDW Athaudage, Officers and a cross section of Airmen of the SLAF Station Pidurutalagala were also present at the opening.
