SLAF Receives Aid For Social Development Projects

A sum of Rs.168000 was donated by the ‘Araliya Foundation’ representing a group of expatriate Sri Lankan youth based in Canada, to the SLAF this morning (12 January 2009). These funds received will directly benefit the development work carried out at the Morawewa Sinhala Maha Vidayalaya, which the SLAF has undertaken, through the Sri Lanka Air Force Special Operations Group Peraru.

Further, another donation of Rs 61,000 in aid of building of houses for the killed in action and disabled war heroes of the Sri Lanka Air Force was also made at the occasion. The funds donated were gathered by the expatriate Sri Lankan well wishes living in Toronto and Ottawa, Canada.    

Both these donations were made by retired Squadron Leader, Maithri Perera and received by the Commander of the SLAF, Air Chief Marshal Roshan Goonetileke on behalf of the SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit at the SLAF Head Quarters today.  

Also present at this occasion were Chief of Staff of the SLAF Air vice Marshal PB Premachandra and Director Ground Operations Air Commodore K Yahampath.
