The Acting Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Air Force Air Chief Marshal Roshan Goonetilleke visited and inspected the Base Welfare Shop last evening (04 Mar 2010) which now provides all essentials at extremely low cost to ensure the strengthening of the Air Force Serviceman’s buying power. The project was a brain child of the Commander himself to ensure the welfare of the men and women under his Command. This Shop is managed by Group Captain Rohan Hemasinghe under the supervision of the Air Commodore Ranil Gurusinghe the Base Commander SLAF Base Katunayake.

Under this concept shops have been established throughout the SLAF and are centrally supplied by the Central Welfare Shop established at Guwanpura in Colombo.
