Inter Unit Drill and Band Competition 2016

The Inter Unit Drill and Band Competition 2016, successfully concluded today (08 September 2016) at the SLAF Base Katunayake Parade Square.

Over 23 teams representing all SLAF establishments took part in the drill competition from which three teams, one from SLAF Base Anuradhapura, one from SLAF Academy Chinabay and one team from SLAF TTS Ekala qualified to perform in the finals. All three teams displayed their talents in front of the chief guest, the Commander of the Air Force Air Marshal Gagan Bulathsinghala.

SLAF Base Anuradhapura Team obtaining 407 points, led by Flying Officer PADC Madushanka  marched ahead of the other teams to receive the Championship Trophy from Air Marshal Gagan Bulathsinghala, whilst SLAF Academy Chinabay  team (404.67 points) led by Flying Officer KVMM Keerthirathne and SLAF TTS Ekala Team  (404.29 points) led by Flight Lieutenant DMK Gamage  became second and third respectively.

The Band Competition was between the Military Band of the Red Wing of SLAF Base Katunayake and the military band of SLAF Academy China Bay. SLAF Base Katunayake scored 705.5 points, which made them the Inter Unit Band Competition champians, whilst SLAF Academy China Bay (657.5 points) became the runners up.

Chief of Staff of the SLAF Air Vice Marshal Ranil Gurusinghe, Members of the Air Force Board of Management, Base Commander of Sri Lanka Air Force Base Katunayake Air Commodore Sagara Kotakadeniya, Base Commanders, Commanding Officers, senior Officers, Officers, other ranks and their families witnessed the competition.
