SLAF won the 2nd place at the Hacking Challenge 2016

The Sri Lanka Air Force Cyber Security Operation Center received the 2nd and 4th places at the Hacking Challenge 2016 beating some high caliber teams from the cooperate sector. This competition was organized by the Sri Lanka Computer Emergency Readiness Team (SLCERT) as a part of the Cyber Security Week 2016, the annual national event on Cyber Security.

 It is a national level contest for IT professionals to test their information security skills in finding out vulnerabilities in IT systems, exploiting them and hence taking precautions for securing them. The Competition was held on 3rd October 2016 with the participation of 14 teams representing the whole island.  The SLAF fielded two teams and the SLAF "COPPERHEAD” emerged as 1st runner-up while SLAF “BLACKFLYERS” emerged as 3rd runner-up at this event.

The chief guest, Hon. Minister of Telecommunications and Digital Infrastructure Mr. Harin Fernando presented the awards during the national Conference on cyber security which was held at BMICH 02nd November 2016.

Chief Information Technology Officer, Air Commodore AS Vithana, attended the ceremony.
