SLAF paid tribute to all Officers and men Killed In Action (KIA) at a grand ceremony graced by the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal  Kapila Jayampathy on 18 August 2017.

Chief of Staff of the SLAF Air Vice Marshal Sumangala Dais, all members of the Air Force Board of Management, senior officers and a cross section of the other ranks attended the ceremony which held at the Sri Lanka Air Force War Heroes Monument at SLAF Trade Training School Ekala.

The Commander laid the first wreath followed by a Former Commander of the Air Force Air Chief Marshal Walter Fernando. Chief of Staff of the SLAF Air Vice Marshal Sumangala Dais, representatives of all ranks and Spouses and children of the SLAF war heroes also joined in the tribute by laying wreaths and flowers at the monument.
