Today (02 July 2018), the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Kapila Jayampathy handed over the Fifth and Sixth Houses constructed under the “Commander’s Housing Project” by the Sri Lanka Air Force Seva Vanitha Unit to the spouse of Late Corporal Gunasekara MWNS and Flight Sergeant Pradeep Kumara WW at Rathupaswala and Divulapitiya respectively. The Chairperson of the SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs. Anoma Jayampathy was also present for the handing over ceremonies.
Construction of both houses was funded by the SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit. Construction of the house at Rathupaswala was carried out by Civil Engineering Wing and SLAF Trade Training School Ekala, while construction the house at Divulapitiya was carried out by Civil Engineering Wing and SLAF Station Mirigama. Both projects were completed under the overall supervision of the Directorate of Civil Engineering.
Director Civil Engineering, Air Vice Marshal MRK Samarasinghe, and representatives from SVU were present for both the ceremonies. Commanding Officer of SLAF Trade Training School Ekala, Gp Capt MJR Perera, Officers and other ranks from Trade Training School were present for the ceremony at Rathupaswala. The Commanding Officer of SLAF Station Mirigama, Wg Cdr LP Dahanayake, Officers and other ranks from Mirigama were present for the ceremony at Divulapitiya.
