SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit Celebrates World Children's Day-2018

In commemoration of World Children’s Day, a special event for children was held today (01 October 2018) at Rifle Green Grounds at SLAF Station Colombo, under the distinguished patronage of the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Kapila Jayampathy, the Chairperson of the SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs. Anoma Jayampathy and with the participation of over 400 children.

This event commenced with the arrival of the Chief Guest at the grounds. The children present were treated to horse rides, train rides, Jurassic Park theme area, Air Dog Show and also an opportunity to have pictures taken with Tarzan on an elephant.

In addition to this event, 50 school children from the Nawagaththegama Ralapanawa Junior College were conveyed to Colombo with the view of affording them a memorable experience by visiting the capital city for the first time. Further, they were also give an opportunity to visit the Air Force Museum in Ratmalana before arriving in Colombo for the function in the evening.

In line with the celebration, SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit organized “Guwan Kekulu Siththam” art competition and winners were awarded valuable prizes and certificates during the programme.

Valuable gift packs were distributed among all participating children by the Seva Vanitha Unit.

The Chief of Staff of the SLAF, Air Vice Marshal Sumangala Dias and Mrs. Dias, Members of the Air Force Board of Management and their ladies, officers and airmen of various Bases and Stations together with their families were present for the event.
