SLAF Oriental Orchestra and Dance Troupe Returns After a Successful Tour in India

The SLAF Oriental Orchestra and the Dance Troupe that visited India to join in the celebrations of the Air Force Day of the IAF, returned last Sunday 07 October 2018, after an extremely successful expedition.

The team had been specially invited by the Chief of Air Staff of the Indian Air Force, Air Chief Marshal Birendra Singh Dhanoa, who extended the invitation through the Commander of the SLAF, Air Marshal Kapila Jayampathy, having been impressed by what he witnessed during his last visit to Sri Lanka.

The team comprising 6 officers, 39 airmen and 18 airwomen from the Oriental Orchestra and the Dance Troupe, performed six shows in Jorhat, Bangalore, Nagpur, Jodhpur and with 2 back to back shows in New Delhi.

The Chief of Air Staff of the IAF himself was among the audience in New Delhi and heartily congratulated the entire team for a fantastic performance. Further, the audiences in each city ranged from IAF personnel and their families to civilian dignitaries. The overall reception of the show was extremely positive and the team was highly praised for their talent and showmanship. Creating history for comperes of the SLAF, the entire series of shows were hosted by Squadron Leader Radika Ranaweera.

The tour lasted for 12 days (From 26 September 2018 to 07 October 2018) and transportation and accommodation was taken care of, by the IAF. Further, the performance at Nagpur is available on the “Prosound System” Facebook page.
