Pre-School Anuradhapura Emerge as Overall Best Pre-School for 2018

The Award Ceremony of the Inter -Pre- School Competition – 2018 was held yesterday (27 March 2019) in Colombo at the Defence Services College Auditorium. The Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Kapila Jayampathy graced the occasion as the chief guest on invitation by Mrs. Anoma Jayampathy, the Chairperson Seva Vanitha Unit and the Director Welfare, Air Vice Marshal PDA Mariestella. Members of the AFBM, Senior Officers including Base Commanders and Commanding Officers and their ladies also attended the ceremony.
The Inter Pre-school Competition was conducted in 2018 as a joint venture of SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit and Directorate of Welfare. SLAF Pre-School Anuradhapura emerged as the Overall Best Pre-School of all eleven Pre-schools of SLAF and was honored with a trophy, certificate and gifts. SLAF Pre-School Ekala won the second place while SLAF Pre-schools from Batticaloa and Hingurakgoda won the third place.
The Trophy for the Best English Drama was awarded to SLAF Pre-School Colombo while the Trophy for the Best Sinhala Drama was awarded to SLAF Pre-School Ampara. SLAF Pre-School Anuradhapura was also awarded the trophy for the Best Pre-School from the Western Zone while SLAF Pre-School Ekala won the award for the Best Pre-School from the Southern Zone and SLAF Pre-School Batticaloa won the award for the Best Pre-School from the Eastern Zone.
Panel of judges made up of Mrs. Prabhica De Zoysa, Mrs. Vasantha Fernando, Mrs. Sandya Jayasinghe and Mrs. Violet Siriwardene, Technical Adviser to SLAF Pre-Schools, the Base Commanders, Commanding Officers and Pre-School Off I/Cs of award winning Pre-Schools were felicitated by the Commander. Pre-School teachers of winning Pre-Schools were appreciated with certificate and gifts while Pre-School children of the winning Pre-Schools attended the ceremony and received gifts as well. Selected items from Pre-school concerts and dancing items by SLAF Dancing troupe suitable for kids were performed on stage for the entertainment of the audience including kids.
