The Sri Lanka Air Force Takes Time to Remember its Own Air Warriors Who Made the Supreme Sacrifice

The Sri Lanka Air Force strides forward to meet the challenges of the future, being ever mindful that it is able to do so because of the sacrifices made by brave air warriors. The SLAF took the time to pay tribute to all Officers and Airmen who lay down their lives in the name of Nation and Service, at a grand ceremony under the auspices of the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Sumangala Dias, today, the 12th of July 2019.

The Chief of Staff of the SLAF Air Vice Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana, members of the Air Force Board of Management, Senior Officers and a cross section of the other ranks attended the ceremony which was held at the Sri Lanka Air Force War Heroes Monument at SLAF Trade Training School Ekala.
 
The Commander laid the first wreath followed by a Former Commander of the Air Force, Air Chief Marshal Walter Fernando. The Chief of Staff, Deputy Chief of Staff, representatives of all ranks of the Air Force, Spouses and children of SLAF war heroes also joined in the tribute by laying wreaths and flowers at the monument.

This commemoration ceremony will be followed by the Annual All Night Pirith Chanting Ceremony of the SLAF also held at SLAF Trade Training School Ekala.
