Sea Rescue Training Conducted Regiment Special Force Training School at China Bay

A comprehensive sea rescue training programme was carried out on 28 December 2019 for the No 14 Regiment Special Forces Basic Course by Regiment Special Forces Training School and No 7 Helicopter Squadron at Sweat Bay beach area at SLAF Academy China Bay, with participation of Instructors from the RSF Training School, Pilots and Air Crew of No 07 Helicopter Squadron.

The training programme included winch operations which are used to rescue people who are stranded by natural disasters as it is essential for RSF trainees to go through an exercise carried out in real time, where people simulated to be stranded at sea are rescued.

The training programme was carried out by the RSF Training School under the guidance and supervision of Commanding Officer Wing Commander HMT Nandakakumara and Officer Commanding Training of the School Squadron Leader BWTS Bandara. Furthermore, the entire exercise was conducted with a Bell 212 helicopter from the No 7 Helicopter Squadron at SLAF Base Hingurakgoda.
