New Medical Ward Complex and Officers’ Accommodation Block Declared Open by the Commander at Weerawila

The Commander of the Sri Lanka Air Force, Air Marshal Sumangala Dias declared open a newly constructed Medical Ward Complex and a Officers’ Accommodation Block at SLAF Station Weerawila yesterday (08 July 2020).

These two projects marked the fulfilment of a long-felt requirement at SLAF Station Weerawila which was progressed to completion by the Commanding Officer, Group Captain Manoaj Keppetipola. The newly constructed spacious Medical Ward Complex houses an Emergency Treatment Unit, Consultation Room, separate ward facilities for Officers, Warrant Officers and SNCOs, a ward for Male and Female patients of junior ranks. Further, the new Officers’ Accommodation Block consists of five rooms which improves accommodation facilities of the Officers’ Mess at Weerawila.

An Engineering Team of 95 Airmen from the Air Field Construction Wing at SLAF Base Ratmalana was deployed to complete these projects. Flight Lieutenant HMKNM Herath was the Project Engineer. The projects were completed under the supervision of the Directorate of Civil Engineering through the Air Field Construction Wing at Ratmalana.

The Commanding Officer of SLAF Station Weerawila, All Officers and Other Ranks were present for the occasion.
