SLAF Commences Methods of Instruction Training for Officers

The SLAF has been conducting Method of Instruction Courses for Airmen for many years. However, over time there was a requirement for Officers to be professionally qualified in Methods of Instruction. With this, the 1st Methods of Instruction Course for Officers commenced in the year 2019 for a duration of 6 months.

This course was made up of modules such as English Language Training, Computer Awareness Training, Air Force General Customs, Qualities of a Good Instructor Personality and Social Qualities, Teaching Methods and Techniques. The course participants were taken on a course visit to the National Institute of Education for a 10 day period.

The awards ceremony of the 1st Methods of Instruction Course for Officers was held on 11 August 2020 at the Main Auditorium of the SLAF Trade Training School under the patronage of the Director Training of the SLAF, Air Vice Marshal Prasanna Payoe. The Commanding Officer of SLAF TTS, Air Commodore Muditha Mahawattage also participated for the event along with Officers and Other Ranks of the School.


Flight Lieutenant HAIJ Hettiarachchi was adjudged as the Overall 1st in the Order of Merit. He also was adjudged as the Best All Rounder and Best Presenter as well. Flight Lieutenant KAJK De Silva won the award for the Best Student during the ceremony. All participants were presented with certificates on successful completion of the Course.
