NEW CHIEF OF STAFF OF THE SRI LANKA AIR FORCE APPOINTED

The Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana, appointed Air Vice Marshal Ravi Jayasinghe as the Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Air Force this morning (30 November 2020).

Air Vice Marshal Jayasinghe was commissioned in the General Duties Pilot Branch in 1987. He has held Squadron appointments such as Adjutant, Flight Safety Officer and Officer Commanding Operations and progressed to command the No 8 Flying Squadron of Sri Lanka Air Force. During his tenure, he has held the appointment of Staff Officer Operations - 1 at the Directorate of Air Operations, the office responsible for flying operations in Sri Lanka. Air Vice Marshal Jayasinghe is a VVIP rated pilot with 6500 flying hours both from fixed and rotary wing aircraft to his credit. He served as Commanding Officer, Air Defence Command and Control Centre from 2007 to mid 2008 and subsequently became the Overall Operations Commander - Air Defence in the SLAF. He commanded four Air Bases and thereafter held the appointments of Director Training, Director Administration and Director Air Operations before being appointed as the Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Air Force.
