THIRD WEEK OF PIRITH CHANTING BEGINS TO INVOKE BLESSINGS ON COUNTRY

The three-week long continuous Pirith Chanting Ceremony at the Independence Square commenced for its third and final week in coordination with Sri Lanka Air Force yesterday evening. The continuous day and night chanting which commenced on the 18th of November will continue till the 9th of December 2020. This was conducted on a concept of His Excellency the President in cooperation by Ministry of Defence, Tri Services and the Police under the guidelines given by Ven. Pahala Vitiyela Jananandabidana Thero, Chief Incumbent at Sri Kalyani Yogashrma monastic temple in Bauddhaloka Mawatha.

Yesterday’s event (2 December 2020) was attended by the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana along with Mrs. Charmini Pathirana.

During the third week of the event which is coordinated by the Sri Lanka Air Force a wide range of matters ranging from the morning ‘Kiri Ahara Pooja’, mid-day ‘Buddha Pooja’ and evening ‘Gilanpasa Pooja’ have been organized.

The occasion was attended by the Minister of Environment Hon. Mahinda Amaraweera, State Minister of Solar Power, Wind and Hydro Power Generation Projects Development, Hon. Duminda Dissanayaka, Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Air Force, Members of the Air Force Board of Management, Officers and Other Ranks from Colombo. The Directorate of Welfare of the SLAF made all coordination arrangements for this event.
