SLAF GREETS THE NEW YEAR 2021 WITH RENEWED ENTHUSIASM

The Sri Lanka Air Force under the leadership of the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana welcomed the new year 2021 at Air Force Headquarters today (1 January 2021), the first working day of the year.  

The proceedings commenced with the arrival of the Commander followed by the raising of the National Flag and the singing of the National Anthem. A two minute silence was observed by all personnel who were present in remembrance of those who made the supreme sacrifice in the name of the motherland after which, the Public Service Pledge was made.

The Commander addressed all members at Air Force Headquarters which included Members of the Air Force Board of Management, Officers, Other Ranks, civilians. This address was streamed live to all establishments of the SLAF simultaneously thus enabling all members of the entire SLAF to lay witness.

The Commander during his address acknowledged that the year 2020 brought forward unprecedented challenges like never seen before and also appreciated the dedication of all Air Force personnel in successfully facing those challengers. With the Air Force set to proudly celebrate its 70th Anniversary this year, the Commander stated that the Air Force is expected to perform its role and more with utmost dedication and discipline in order to drive our motherland forward in line with the government’s vision of Prosperity and Splendor.

In conclusion, a multi religious ceremony was also held at the AFHQ Lobby to invoke blessings on the SLAF and all its personnel with the dawn of the New Year 2021.
