SRI LANKA AIR FORCE CONDUCTS ISLAND WIDE PIRITH CHANTING PROGRAM

The Sri Lanka Air Force, on the directives of the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana, lunched an island wide ‘Pirith Chanting’ Program yesterday (02 January 2021). For the first time in the history of the SLAF, Pirith Chanting was conducted at the Academy, Bases and Stations simultaneously to invoke blessing on all personnel of the Air Force and on the entire nation. With the dawn of the New Year 2021, this meritorious event will invoke blessings on our island nation to have the strength and courage to push forward through these challenging times. Pirith Ceremonies were organized in the north at SLAF Station Palaly and at the highest point of the island, SLAF Station Piduruthalagala.

The main Pirith Chanting Ceremony was held at Air Force Headquarters yesterday. Prior to the commencement of Ceremony, the ‘Reliquary’ (Karaduwa) was brought to Air Force Headquarters in a colorful procession and was placed in the ‘Pirith Mandapaya’ by the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana.
 
Subsequently, an almsgiving was accorded to the Venerable Maha Sangha this morning (03 January 2021) with the participation of Venerable Dr. Kirinde Assaji Thero, the Deputy Incumbent of the Gangaramaya Temple in Colombo.
 
The Chief of Staff of the Air Force, Air Vice Marshal Ravi Jayasinghe, members of the Air Force Board of Management, Senior Officers and Other Ranks participated for the All Night Pirith Chanting Ceremony as well as for the Almsgiving held at Air Force Headquarters.
