58th Formation Day Celebrated at SLAF Diyatalawa

Sri Lanka Air Force Station Diyatalawa celebrated its 58th Formation Day on 15th October 2010.

Following the formal events held to mark the occasion, several environmental friendly cleaning programs were organized by the Station.

The Formation Day celebrations began with a Working Parade held on the morning of 15 October under the review of the Commanding Officer, Group Captain PLJ Kodippili.

As the Formation Day coincided with the commencement of “Haritha Masaya” (Green Month), a tree planting campaign was also conducted as part of the celebrations. Apart from this, both the service and civilian staff joined hands to carry out cleaning programs at several public locations namely the Railway Station Diyatalawa, Kahagolla Mosque, Kahagolla Church, Vihara Kele Temple, Bodhi Maluwa Temple and Diyatalawa Hindu Kovil.

The celebrations continued until 16 October 2010 with sports events and an entertaining musical show organized for service and civilian staff as well their families. The event saw the SLAF Dance Troupe also rendering a fabulous performance. The celebrations culminated with an all rank’s lunch at the Airmen’s Mess.
