NO 6 HELICOPTER SQUADRON AT ANURADHAPURA CELEBRATES 28TH ANNIVERSARY

No 6 Helicopter Squadron at Anuradhapura which is home to the Russian Mi-17 known as the “Tuskers of the Sky” proudly celebrated its 28th anniversary under the guidance of the Commanding Officer, Group Captain WWNTP Fernando yesterday (15 March 2021).
 
The Anniversary celebrations began with a Working Parade which was held at the Base Parade Square and reviewed by the Commanding Officer. Following the parade all Officers and all personnel participated for a religious program at the Squadron Hangar. Further, a friendly Elle match was conducted with the participation of Officers and all personnel of the Squadron at the Anuradhapura Base Sport Ground.

Concurrently, the Squadron organized several functions to mark this occasion including religious and community service activities. A ‘Dansal’ program was arranged at Ruwanweli Maha Saya Premises to invoke blessings on past and present members of the Squadron. In addition, a ‘Shramadana’ Programmes were conducted at the Sri Wijayarama Temple and St. Joseph's Church. Further, a cleaning programme was held at Thisa Wewa area as well.

Celebrations and all charity programmes were held adhering to the COVID-19 prevention guidelines with the participation of all ranks of the Squadron.
