4TH PHASE OF “GUWAN MITHUDAM” PROGRAM CONDUCTED AT KANDEYAYA, PUTTALAM

A new episode in the series of Community Service Responsibilities under the “Guwan Mithudam” Program made its fourth edition together with SLAF Station Palavi on 22 March 2021 by entrusting a newly constructed Dispensary to the residents of Kandeyaya, Puttalam. This project was conducted under the guidance and supervision of the Chairperson SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs. Charmini Pathirana along with SLAF Station Palavi and the Chief Incumbent of Sri Meththarama Temple to assist and facilitate the people of the Kandeyaya Village.

Kandeyaya Village is a remote area in the Puttalam District which is home to nearly 200 families. Most of the villagers are either farmers or daily wage earners. These villagers live with inadequate infrastructure facilities and have to travel nearly 15 Km towards the Puttalam Town to seek medical assistance during an emergency.

The intension of this programme was to construct a Dispensary to facilitate free treatment for nearly 800 residents and in turn minimize their burden of expenditure on medical treatment. The center for the medical treatment and adequate medical equipment along with medicine were handed over to the residents during the event.

Handing Over of the Dispensary took place at Kandeyaya with the blessing of Maha Sanga Rathnaya where the Chairperson SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit Mrs. Charmini Pathirana participated as the Chief Guest. Spouse of Director Welfare Mrs. Nirodha Wanigasooriya, Commanding Officer of SLAF Station Palavi, Group Captain Jagath Godakanda a cross section of Officers and Other Ranks from SLAF Station Palavi, staff of the Seva Vanitha Unit and residents of Kandeyaya Village were present to witness the event.
