SLAF STATION MIRIGAMA AND AIR DEFENCE COMMAND & CONTROL CENTRE CELEBRATE 14TH AND 15TH ANNIVERSARIES RESPECTIVELY

SLAF Station Mirigama and the Air Defence Command and Control Centre at Mirigama jointly celebrated their 14th and 15th anniversaries on 01 and 02 July 2021.

The event was marked by a Community Service Project conducted at the Shasanawardhana Mahabodhi Children’s Orphanage at Mirigama and a blood donation campaign at the Station premises. The Community Service Project included the renovation of the orphanage and the donation of essential school books, sports items, mattresses, beddings and dry rations. The Community Service Project was completed under the leadership of Group Captain Prasanna Kuruwita, the Commanding Officer of SLAF Station Mirigama and Group Captain Duminda Wickramarachchi, the Commanding Officer of the Air Defence Command & Control Centre.

Only a cross section of Officers and Other Ranks participated for the event due to the current pandemic situation.

The Air Defence Command & Control Centre was established with the primary aim of serving the nation by being the nerve centre of the National Air Defence Network. Subsequently, SLAF Station Mirigama was established in order to provide administrative, security, logistics, technical and maintenance services, in support of National Air Defence Operations.
