Festival Of Lights For Trikonamadu

Sri Lanka Air Force personnel based at Rehabilitation Center, Trikonamadu celebrated the Deepavali (Festival of lights) with over 1,500 personnel.

On the 01st of April 2010, the rehabilitation center was opened in order to re- integrate young people into society by providing them with professional knowledge.

All the Air Force personnel and civilians got together in the morning of 05th November 2010 and religious activities as well as the traditional customs were performed to commence the five days of
celebrations as free citizens of a free country. SLAF provided them with traditional food items and sweetmeats such as ‘Kiribath, Kavum, kokis’ for the morning and a delicious lunch which partaken together as brothers of a free nation.

Later, in the day, organized traditional games and competitions were conducted such as Kabaddi, Volleyball, Fancy dress competition, best smile, eying the elephant, tug of war which were
followed by a musical show by the SLAF band.

The event was made possible with the assistance and direction of the Commissioner General of Rehabilitation Brigadier Sudantha Ranasinghe and under the guidance of Air Commodore
Shantha Narasinghe well supported by Squadron leader Manjula Weerawardana, Flight Lieutenant Iroshana and Flight Lieutenant Vindika Dissanayaka.
