COMMANDER'S INSPECTION OF SLAF STATION WEERAWILA

The Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana conducted the Commander's Inspection of SLAF Station Weerawila today (06 December 2021). The Commander reviewed the Commander’s Inspection Parade commanded by the Commanding Officer, Group Captain Rajinth Jayawardena. This is the first occasion in the history of SLAF Station Weerawila that a Commander has been accorded a Commanders Inspection Squadron Parade.

The Commander inspected the Station HQ including all sections of the Station and the No 03 Air Defence Radar Squadron. He also declared open the newly constructed Commander’s Chalet located withing the Station. The construction of this new Chalet was carried out by Civil Engineering troops from the Civil Engineering Wing at Katunayake and the Works Section of SLAF Station Weerawila under the supervision of the Commanding Officers of the Station and the Project Engineer, Flight Lieutenant Nuwan Dharmakeerthi.

On completion of the inspection the Commander addressed all personnel of the Station where he stressed on the strategic importance of the Station and the contribution given by the Station to achieve the vision and mission of the Sri Lanka Air Force. The Commander also commended the Commanding Officer and all members of the Station for maintaining the Station up to the standard expected. The Commander also visited the SLAF Detachment at the Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport before departing for Colombo.
