SLAF display at Deyata Kirula 2011 attracts large crowd

Crowds continue to throng the stalls of Sri Lanka Air Force at ‘Deyata Kirula 2011’, the spectacular exhibition series held to mark the 63 years of independence in Sri Lanka as it continues in its third day today at Buttala.

The exhibition was declared open by H.E the President Mahinda Rajapakse on 4th February 2011. The head of state returned to the exhibition grounds the following morning accompanied by Secretary of Defence Hon. Gotabhaya Rajapakse as well as the Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Air Force, Air Chief Marshal Roshan Goonetileke and visited the area occupied by the SLAF.

The SLAF exhibition consists of vibrant and action-packed demonstrations of rifling, rock climbing, fast roping and abseiling by SLAF Regiment Special Forces. Also on offer are some magnificent displays by paratroopers, air dogs, Air Force Band and a drill display by the SLAF colour squadron.

The Deyata Kirula 2011 also features a display of SLAF aircraft including fighter jets, attack and transport air craft, UAV as well a host of armament. Meanwhile a souvenir stall hosted by the Air Force Museum is also at the exhibition.

The SLAF Media Unit offers an impressive array of videos from the pre and post Humanitarian Operation era and visitors also get a chance to be a part of the live web cast operating from the Deyata Kirula grounds on www.airforce.lk

Deyata kirula witnessed the participation of large crowds in these two days and expect more as the exhibition continues in the coming week.
