SLAF Strikes Double Win at Chrys Gunarathna TT Tournament

Sri Lanka Air Force clinched double victories at the Chrys Gunarathna
Memorial Table Tennis Tournament held recently from 8 to 10 April 2011
at the S. Thomas’ College Indoor Stadium, Mount
Lavinia.
The tournament was contested for two championships; men’s and women’s with 7 matches being held for each championship. Players with the leading scores met head to head at the finals, which saw the Air Force well represented in both categories.
AC Rohan Sirisena of the SLAF managed to gain a comprehensive win with 4 sets to one against his opponent, Dinesh Deshapriya of the Sri Lanka Navy in the Men’s finals.
In the final battle for the women’s championship trophy, SLAF’s AC Ishara Madhurangi, who remained unbeaten throughout the entire tournament, continued her winning streak, chalking up 4 sets to nil against Erandi Warusawithana of Dharmashoka College, Ambalangoda.
The newly appointed Election Commissioner of Sri Lanka, Mr. Mahinda Deshapriya attended the tournament as Chief Guest.
