Commander inspects SLAF development work in the North

The Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Harsha Abeywickrama, conducted an inspection tour of SLAF development projects in the Northern Province on Sunday 22, May 2011. During the tour, the Commander visited the two new Air Bases being established at Iranamadu and Mullaittivu.

The Commander first arrived at SLAF Iranamadu and was received by the Commanding Officer Wing Commander Haily Rupasinghe. The Commander inspected the buildings being erected and the progress of construction work on the runway. On completion of the inspection, the Commander addressed the troops and while appreciating the commendable effort they have put in so far, gave further directions steering the future course of the development work.

Thereafter, the Commander departed for SLAF Mullaittivu and, on arrival, was received by acting Commanding Officer, Squadron Leader Buddhika Medagewatta. There also, the Commander inspected the buildings being erected and the progress of construction work on the runway and gave further instructions on the development work yet to be undertaken there.
