Commander’s Annual Inspection of SLAF Sp Ops Group Peraru

The Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Harsha Abeywickrama, conducted the AOCs Inspection of SLAF Special Operations Group on 18th June 2011.

The Commander, upon arrival for the inspection, was received into the camp premises by the Group Commander, Wing Commander Deepthi Ravihansa, through a street lining of airmen commanded by Flying Officer Gihan Thusith. A Senior Non-commissioned Officer, four junior non commissioned officers and two airmen were commended by the Commander for their meritorious contributions to the Group in particular and to the Air Force in general. They received their Commendation Certificates from the Commander at a brief ceremony twhich ook place in front of the office of the Commanding Officer.   

During the inspection, the Commander declared open the newly constructed Rambewewa Holiday resort which was followed by the opening of a herbal garden. Thereafter, the Commander initiated the planting of 500 coconut trees by planting the first one. This is the 1st step of a project to plant 2000 trees. Furthermore, the Commander opened a Welfare shop for service personnel to purchase the goods at a reasonable price. Later on the “Guwan Thuru Sewana” was also opened by the Commander where all personnel, both service or civilian could refresh themselves whilst passing the area which is usually dry.  

On conclusion of the inspection, the Commander addressed the Officers and airmen of the Group praising the commendable job they had done and encouraged them to set and reach even higher goals.
