Commander’s Annual Inspection of SLAF Sigiriya

The Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Harsha Abeywickrama, conducted the AOCs Inspection at SLAF Unit Sigiriya this morning (24th June 2011).

The Commander, upon arrival for the inspection, was received into the Unit by the Commanding Officer, Wing Commander Chaminda Silva, through a street lining of airmen commanded by Flying Officer Deepal Rathnapala.

During the inspection, the Commander toured the newly renovated Officers transit block, the Station Headquarters, the newly air conditioned Corporal and Airmen clubs as well as the Airmen mess, the Explosive Ordnance training area and its work shop and the Command Welfare Shop. He also visited the SLAF Seva Vanitha garment factory and whilst appreciating the work done encouraged them to maintain the good standards already achieved.

The Commander took a seat at the Airmen Mess with the officers, men and women for the customary all ranks lunch which followed by a address by the Commander to all Officers, men and women of the Unit praising the commendable job they had done and encouraged them to set and reach even higher goals.

The Commander also visited the ‘Maho Detachment’ to get a first hand briefing on the  development of the detachment.
