LAC Chandrakumara RKK (Gnr III) representing the Sri Lanka Rowing team at the 14th Asian Rowing Championships was placed 12th in the Men’s Single Sculls event amongst the 14 participants representing the Asian countries. This year the event was held in Hwacheon, Korea from 13 to 17 October 2011, in which the giants from the Asian rowing arena participated.

The Amateur Rowing Association of Sri Lanka (ARASL) selected LAC Chandrakumara, who started the discipline of Sculling only at the beginning of year 2011, after identifying his potential, based on his highly competitive performances in outdoor and indoor rowing competitions held during the year. Hence, his performance at the Asian Rowing Championships is highly commendable.

Although the Sri Lanka team failed to register any medal winning performances, it is noteworthy to mention that the performance by LAC Chandrakumara in the Men’s Single Sculls event has placed him amongst the ‘Top 15’ Scullers in Asia.
