A medical and surgical clinic was held successfully on 1st and 2nd October 2011 in Yahalegama and Keerikkulama areas as a part of Dayata Kirula development programme. It was conducted by the Sri Lanka Air Force as a part of their responsibilities towards civil society.

The overall coordination of the event was done by SLAF Base Anuradhapura. The clinic offered free Medical, Surgical, Pediatric Consultation and Treatment, Hematological Biochemical and other investigatory facilities, Eye and Diabetic screening, Medical Education programs and Psychological counseling. More than 25 Medical Officers, Nursing and Paramedical staff participated in the event and was able to treat more than 1500 civil patients in the area.

Thirty three patients were identified as having undetected chronic Communicable/Non Communicable diseases and were treated and referred to the respective specialty for further management.

Yahalegama and Keerikkulama were identified as two less resourced remote areas in the Anuradhapura District with minimum facilities of medical care. The above clinics were good opportunity for the locals in the area to screen themselves for diseases and for obtaining proper treatment.
