A community project was conducted at Wirawila on 17th December 2011 with a view to prevent a possible dengue outbreak during the  monsoon season. The project was also aimed at strengthening the bonds between the SLAF and the civil community.

Sri Lanka Air Force Unit Wirawila, as part of its social responsibilities, was able to give leadership to the community to clean up the area and was able create a better and more hygienic environment for the dwellers of Wirawila junction.
