In recognition of the significant progress made so far by the Agricultural projects at SLAF Base Hingurakgoda, a Two Wheel Tractor and some other agricultural equipment were donated by the Chairman Hadabima Authority, Mr. Nandasena Herath.

Falling in line with the directive received from the Commander of the Air Force to initiate Special Projects, a process of converting a shrub jungle into a fertile land was started in April 2011 and has developed to be a fairly large Agro Farm expanding approximately up to 50 acres.  This effort is enriched by the concept of self contained unit which provides the other necessities within the system.  It has it’s own compost project, eco tourism with Cabana and self learning and agricultural research processes running along with farming that in turn prop up farming process. It is unique by having it’s own irrigation system with two water tanks without totally depending on the rain water or supply from the main grid.  These newly dug tanks also has added picturesque value to the farming land to further promote the concept of Agro Tourism.
