Armament Technicians
Armament TechniciansAirmen of this trade are concerned with the issue, control and safe custody of small arms and ammunition from armouries. They are responsible for servicing of all Ground weapons stored at these armouries. Armament technicians posted to aircraft Squadrons will be responsible for the servicing and maintenance of aircraft armament systems. Personnel posted to General Engineering Wing will have the responsibility of performing heavy maintenance on both air and ground weapons. On gaining seniority, they will evolve in practical work to being employed in a supervisory role and finally in the role of a junior manager. Responsibility for the administration of an armoury, the function of an armament section of a Squadron, supervising Quality Assurance activities are some of the responsibilities, they will be called upon to undertake later.

Qualifications

Passes in 06 Subjects at the G.C.E.(O/L) Examination at not more than two sittings including ordinary passes in Sinhala/Tamil language, Mathematics and Science(Mathematics II, Science II if an applicant of year 1999/2000). A credit pass for Mathematics/Science is essential.
