SRI LANKA WINS FAIR PLAY AWARD AT 35TH CISM WORLD MILITARY WRESTLING CHAMPIONSHIP
The Sri Lankan Team under the leadership of Air Commodore Udula Wijesinghe was adjudged as the winners of the “Fair Play Award” at the recently concluded 35th CISM World Military Wrestling Championship held in Teheran, Iran.

The Sri Lankan Team was made up of Wrestlers from the Sri Lanka Army, Navy and Air Force. They actively participated for all events and was able to secure this award due to their professionalism and proper technical skills.

The team included Corporal Udara Fernando under 61 Kg weight category, Leading Aircraftman Lakmal Wijesuriya under 74 Kg weight category, Leading Aircraftman Nishan Walpita under 92 Kg weight category and Leading Aircraftman Ruwan Kalyana under 125 Kg weight category. Group Captain Erandika Gunawardena officiated as the Team Manager and Leading Aircraftman Wijesiri Fernando officiated as the SLAF Coach
