“Sentimental Journey of Clarence”

The ”Sentimental Journey of Clarence”, Chandimal live in concert 2013 was held last evening ( 9th December 2013) at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH). This live Concert was organized by the SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit in collaboration with Chandimal Fernando .

Clarence Wijewardena was one of the most popular Sri Lankan musicians, who pioneered the use of electric guitar in Sinhala music. Chandimal and his colleagues played favorite songs originally created by the great musician Clarence Wijewardena and dance performances were choreographed by Kevin Nugera and El Latino Dancers whilst Ballroom Dance items were performed by Tony Fernandez and Chandana Wickramasigha Dance troupe.
 
Everyone who was present at the concert fondly recalled memories of Clarence Wijewardena. During the concert Chandimal Fernando specially dedicated a song to his uncle the late Admiral Clancy Fernando (Former Navy Commander) who was assassinated by a LTTE suicide bomber on 16 November 1992, in front of the Galle Face Green.
 
The Commander of the SL Army Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake and Mrs. Damayanthi Ratnayake, Chairperson of Sri Lanka Police Seva Vanitha Unit  Mrs. Neepa Illangakoon and Director General of the Department of Civil Security Rear Admiral Ananda Peiris and Mrs. Kumudini Peiris attended this event as the special guests of Chairperson of SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit. Commander of the Air Force Air Marshal Harsha Abeywickrama, the Chairperson SLAF SVU Mrs. Neelika Abeywickrama, members of the Air Force Board of Management, Officers and Airmen were also witnessed the concert.
