SLAF BOXERS TO REPRESENT SRI LANKA AT WORLD MILITARY GAMES

The 58th World Military Boxing Championship is scheduled to be held in Moscow, Russia. This year four (04) female players from the Sri Lanka Air Force Women’s Boxing Team will be representing our nation. In addition to these players, Squadron Leader Prasad Wijesinghe who is also an International Boxing Referee will be officiating at these games. These players and officials are scheduled to leave the island tomorrow (16 September 2021). The Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana conveyed his best wishes to the participants and wished them all success during the games.
Leading Aircraftwoman Chamodhi Pasyala who will be participating in the 57 Kg weight category has made many achievements at tournaments such as the Layton Cup Boxing Tournament, Clifford Cup Boxing Tournament 2019 and the National Boxing Championships in 2018 and 2019. Leading Aircraftwoman Sanjeewani Cooray who will participate in the 60 Kg weight category has also achieved success at tournaments such as the Defence Services Games 2018, National Boxing Championships in 2018 and 2019, Thailand Open Boxing Championship 2018, International Service Boxing Tournament 2019, South Asian Boxing Championships 2019, Layton Cup Boxing Tournament 2019 and Clifford Cup Boxing Tournament 2019.
Leading Aircraftwoman Kashmi Thiwanka who will be participating in the 69 Kg weight category has made many achievements at tournaments such as the Defence Services Games 2018, Layton Cup Boxing Tournament 2019, Clifford Cup Boxing Tournament 2019 and the National Boxing Championships in 2018 and 2019. Leading Aircraftwoman Gayani Kaluarachchi who will participate in the 75 Kg weight category has also achieved success at tournaments such as the Defence Services Games 2018, Layton Cup Boxing Tournament 2019 and Clifford Cup Boxing Tournament 2019.
Group Captain Indika Wickramasinghe is the Chairman of SLAF Boxing while Wing Commander Viraj Gamage is Secretary. Leading Aircratman Dhanushka Ariyarathne officiates as the Coach of the SLAF Boxing Pool.
