I am delighted to convey that you have officially registered and will be playing in the Commander’s Cup Golf Tournament 2024, the latest of the annual golf tournaments organized by the Sri Lanka Air Force, which will be held from 19 January to 21 January 2024 at Eagles' Golf Links, China Bay

This correspondence confirms your registration, accommodation (only if opted at Air Force resorts and locations) and the choice of travel for the tournament. If there are any payments to be made, it is kindly requested to complete the same at your earliest convenience (bank details are mentioned below).

Further, few important points regarding the tournament are as follows.

Transporting Golf Bags at RCGC

All golfers that have made travel plans with the SLAF, by bus, will be provided with a truck to carry your golf bags. The truck will depart the day prior and the bags will be available for you at the Clubhouse when you reach China Bay.

The bags will be tagged and accounted for and you will be issued with a receipt. Please make sure to bring this with you to China Bay so that we can verify that all items are in order at the course. The same to be followed when handing over the bags to the pro shop at the end of tournament play.

For those joining the SLAF Bus from Colombo

The bus will be parked at RCGC and will depart by 0530 Hrs on Friday, the 19 January 2024. All those who are travelling in the bus are expected to be at the location on time, please.

For snacks and toilet breaks, the bus will stop at the Dambulla Perera and Sons and at the Singha Café Army Camp near Habarana. The bus can make a maximum of 2 more stops if required so please coordinate among each other and choose the stops, accordingly.

For those joining SLAF transportation from VGR

A van will be provided for the limited number of golfers that have confirmed they will be joining from VGR. This van too, will be parked at VGR and will plan to depart at approx. 0530 Hrs on Friday, the 19 January 2024.

Registration at Eagles’ Golf Links

All golfers travelling with the SLAF transport by road, and by themselves are requested to come to Eagles’ Golf Links Club House as their first entry point in this tournament due to the following;

For registration; it is requested to make all payments beforehand and collect your tournament T-Shirt and Cap.
To obtain details of accommodation.
To facilitate practice rounds.

On the 19 January (Friday evening), those who are yet to pay registration fees and room charges must pay their dues to the registration desk at the Clubhouse. All rooms have been dedicatedly arranged with your requests and comfort in mind. The details of the accommodation locations will be available for you at 0530 Hrs on 19 January 2024.

Transport to and from Accommodation Locations

Transport is provided for all our golfers to travel to and from Eagles’ Golf Links, Bayview to Marble Beach at scheduled shuttle times and for advance requests only.

Time of Tee Off

Play will begin promptly at the time stipulated in the programme. All golfers are required to be ready at the clubhouse by 0620 Hrs on 20 January (Saturday) for the Tournament Brief.

Buses from Bayview and Marble Beach will depart at 0600 Hrs and 0550 Hrs respectively.

For family members who will not join the 0550 Hrs bus from Marble Beach and 0600 Hrs bus from Bayview and for those who wish to come to the Clubhouse to enjoy the view and some scrumptious breakfast, buses will be arranged to be ready at the respective locations by 0800 Hrs.

Breakfast for the golfers will be available at the 5th, 10th and the 16th holes, while breakfast for all other guests will be available at the Clubhouse from 0800 Hrs to 0930 Hrs.

After the end of play, a round of drinks will be served for all players, before lunch.

Going to the beach?

After the end of play, those who so desire can visit Marble Beach for a sea-bath. Transport will be provided to the beach and back to your respective accommodation areas. Just let us know ahead of time please!

Award Ceremony and Dinner Reception

The awards ceremony will begin at 1930 Hrs on Saturday, the 20 January 2024. All golfers and guests are invited to be present at Bayview by 1900 Hrs. Dress code will be Smart Casual. The busses will be ready to bring you to Bayview by 0630 Hrs at Marble Beach traveling via Clubhouse.

Further, apart from the complimentary drinks and cocktails, drinks will be available for purchase at the Bayview Bar on 20 January 2024. After the awards ceremony, it will be time to celebrate the tournament and have some fun!

Breakfast before saying Goodbye

Breakfast on Sunday the 21 will be ready at the clubhouse from 0730 Hrs to 0930 Hrs. Transport will be provided from accommodation areas to the Clubhouse.

Moreover, golf is a game of integrity, honour and self-discipline, so kindly respect each other, the game and the course, please.

Also, this is Wing Commander Radhika Ranaweera, filling in for Wing Commander Naveen Gunaratne, who is on an official visit overseas. He will be back in home for the tournament, and in the meantime, I will be overlooking tournament proceedings.
