SLAF HOSTS TRANSFORMATIVE LEADERSHIP PROGRAMME FOR UNIVERSITY UNDERGRADUATES
A three-day Leadership Development Programme was successfully conducted at the SLAF Combat Training School, Diyatalawa, from 15 May 2026 to 17 May 2026, with the participation of undergraduates from the Department of Sports Sciences, faculty of Applied Sciences, University of Sri Jayewardenepura. The programme was Coordinated under the direction of the Commanding Officer SLAF Combat Training School Diyatalawa, Group Captain Lalith Sugathadasa.

The programme was initiated in response to a request made by the university. The programme was facilitated by Officer Instructors and Other Instructors. The proceeding commenced with an inaugural address delivered by the Acting Commanding Officer and Officer Commanding Training, Group Captain Wasantha Lakshman and the training sessions were supervised by Recruit Training I, Squadron Leader Udara Wijayarathne.

Throughout the Programme, the undergraduates engaged in a variety of activities such as physical training, decision making, skill development games on leadership, group discussions and motivational sessions. These sessions helped participants to develop discipline, resilience, leadership and communication skills.

In addition, an ‘Evening Camp Fire’ was conducted in order to create a platform for the participants to showcase their talents and strengthen camaraderie in a relaxed and joyful setting.

The programme concluded on a high note, with all participants gaining invaluable experiences, improved leadership potentials and cherished memories of their time at SLAF Combat Training School Diyatalawa.
