The ‘Language Performance Day’ of No. 173 Airmen and No. 43 Airwomen Intakes Basic Trainees was conducted yesterday (27 March 2025) at the Main Auditorium at SLAF Trade Training School Ekala. The Chairperson SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit, Mrs. Krishanthi Edirisinghe graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

The basic trainees of No.173 intake and No. 43 Airwomen Intakes have completed their combat training course at three different Training Schools, including SLAF Academy China Bay, Combat Training School Diyatalawa and Regimental Training School Ampara. These trainees reported to Sri Lanka Air Force Trade Training School, Ekala to follow their Basic Trade Training. Subsequently, they commenced the ‘Basic Intensive English Language Phase’ which consisted of 35 days prior to their Trade Training Programmes.

During this 35-day journey, the trainees were groomed and exposed to basic communication skills, aiming to perform the trade-related duties competently and confidently.

The “Language Performance Day 2025” which was themed as “Soaring with English” was organized under the patronage of Director Trade Training and Commanding Officer of SLAF Trade Training School Ekala, Air Commodore Kolitha Abeysinghe. During the ‘Language Performance Day', the trainees showcased what they learned and gathered during their 35-day Intensive English expedition at Trade Training School, Ekala. The event was attended by the President Seva Vanitha Unit at SLAF Trade Training School Ekala, Mrs. Bhagya Thilakarathne, senior officers, trade training instructors and trainees of the school were also present at the event.
