To become the leader of the Civil Aircraft Maintenance Training in Sri Lanka

MISSION:

To train and groom talented locals and foreigners in the region on Civil Aircraft Maintenance and to deliver dynamic professional to the field of Civil Aviation.

ABOUT THE PROGRAMME

The programme, Basic Training Course in Aircraft Maintenance (BTC in AM) is a certificate course conducted by Helitours Technical Training Centre (HTTC), the Maintenance Training Organization of Helitours (Pvt) Ltd, managed by the Sri Lanka Air Force.

The programme aims to produce dynamic bunch of professionals to the region, armed with core competencies on aircraft maintenance attributes which demands in the flourishing Aviation industry, for a substantially reasonable cost comparatively, paving them with a highly prestigious and accomplished life, eventually.

BTC in AM is a course which is approved by the Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka (CAASL) and fulfills the pre-requisite knowledge in order to appear for the Aircraft Maintenance License (AML) examination conducted by CAASL and get the eligibility to work on civil aircraft. The programme integrated with theoretical and practical training (55% theoretical and 45% practical), as per the curriculum outlined on IS 66 issued by CAASL. This course is a 02 years full- time training programme conducted 8.00 am to 2.00 pm from Monday to Friday.

This course is designed to cover following category

  • Category B1.1 Aero Planes Turbine
  • Each programme is embedded with 13 subject modules and 2 compulsory workshop and hangar modules as applicable to the relevant AML Category. Upon successful completion of all necessary modules, assessments, written examinations and practical assessments, the trainees will be awarded a ‘Certificate of Recognition’ for the completion of Basic Training Course in Aircraft Maintenance (BTC in AM), approved and accepted by the CAASL.

    This certificate enables followers to appear for the Aircraft Maintenance License (AML) Examinations conducted by CAASL and to work on civil aircraft based on the individual choices at a particular maintenance organization in the aviation industry, locally and overseas. In addition, Practical Maintenance Experience (PME) or On-the-Job Training (OJT) could be obtained through the Helitours Approved Maintenance Organization (AMO) on the availability, by Helitours (Pvt) Ltd. The process converts them as a Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer, eventually.

    The lectures are conducted by filtered set of well experienced and competent Aeronautical Engineers and Electronic Engineers of Sri Lanka Air Force. They are closely assessed and monitored during the training process. The instructors are trained continually as per the regulations and guidelines of Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka on latest technology, Aviation Legislation and Human Factors. The students must achieve a minimum of 80% attendance for all individual modules to be eligible to sit for the examinations conducted by HTTC.

    Annually 28 students are enrolled for the course and they are facilitated with fully equipped Air-conditioned classrooms, Practical Bays, in addition to the exposures they get on diverse aircraft maintenance workshops under Helitours.

    RECREATIONAL FACILITIES:

    The students are facilitated with a well-equipped Gymnasium, Swimming pool, Playground and Tennis courts, during the evening hours as included in the personality development programme, intending to produce fully fledged professionals to the dynamic industry.

    ELIGIBILITY:

  • Credit pass in English at GCE (O/L) or Pass in higher level English examination or equivalent.
  • Pass in six subjects at GCE (O/L) with Science and Mathematics. Either Mathematics or Science should have a Credit pass.
  • However, the preference will be given for the applicants who possess with GCE A/L qualifications in Mathematics/Bio science streams.
  • CAREER PROSPECTS:

    The students who successfully complete the training course will find prospects for employment in the Aviation Industry both locally and internationally. On completion of the training, the candidates are eligible to join with an Airline/ Aviation Industry and can appear for the AML Examinations. After 02 years of On-the-Job Training (OJT), obtained as per the individual choice, the candidates become eligible to be issued with the AML, and be recognized as a Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer, whom obtain the privilege to issue ‘Release to Service’ Certificate for a civil aircraft after the maintenance and servicing work, subjected to the Type Ratings and organizational compliances.

    The career prospects for these students are very high in local and foreign markets. All in all, this is an institution which generates lucrative professionals to the region as envisioned with international recognition, whom obviously entitled to have a highly prestigious and accomplished life.

    COURSE FEE:

    The course fee is SLR 900,000.00. The installment payment facility is available with initial down payment of SLR 400,000.00 and installments of Rs.45, 000.00 monthly during the 1st year which amounts a total of SLR 940 000.00.
