Airmen and Airwomen can choose from a wide range of support roles to specialized technical roles. Airmen and Airwomen make up the majority of personnel in the Sri Lanka Air Force, bringing in their specialist skills to provide vital support roles such as Engineering and Technical, Force Protection, Logistics, Personnel Administration, Medical Support and Intelligence.

The recruitment of Airmen or Airwomen as Recruits or Direct Entry in the Regular or Volunteer Force will be conducted twice a year unless otherwise decided by the Commander of the Air Force. The Command Recruiting Officer will ascertain the number of vacancies available in respective Trades which require to be fulfilled.

Age Regular Airmen (18-24) : 01.09.1997 to 01.09.2003
Regular Airwomen (18-23) : 01.09.1998 to 01.09.2003
Direct Entry Airmen (18-28) : 01.09.1993 to 01.09.2003
Airwomen (18-26) : 01.09 1996 to 01.09.2003
Height Male: 165 cm (5’ 5”) and above
Female: 160 cm (5’ 3”) and above
Weight Male: 17 < BMI < 26
Female: 17 < BMI < 25
Chest Male: 32” (Minimum)
Visual Acuity Left eye : 6/6 (without spectacles)
Right eye : 6/6 (without spectacles)
