ABOUT THE EDUCATION ASSISTANT (PRE-SCHOOL TEACHER)

a. Description

They are required to work as professional early childhood educators, facilitating
Learning through play and creative activities for the children aged 3–4 years.

b. Duties and responsibilities

They are required to conduct classes at designated Pre Schools, prepare age
appropriate teaching materials, maintain child progress records, organize creative
activities (arts, music, and storytelling), ensure classroom safety and hygiene and
communicate with parents regarding child development.

c. Specialized areas

Ability to conduct Montessori methods, experience in child psychology, skills
in singing, dancing, handicrafts, storytelling, basic first aid and proficiency in
Sinhala/Tamil/English will be considered as special qualifications.

d. Career progression and Future prospects

Opportunities may be provided to enhance professional qualifications and skills
through training programmes and workshops.

including Sinhala / Tamil and Credit pass for English language.

Pearson Edexcel International General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE)
exam and Cambridge International Ordinary Level exams: Passes in 06 subjects and Credit pass
for English in not more than two sittings.

SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS

Professional qualifications

a. Required Diploma qualification from a Government recognized institute in Pre-school
teaching

b. Possession of NVQ Level 3 or NVQ Level 4 for a Pre School teacher is considered as
an added qualification and priority will be given to them.

Practical experiences

Required more than six-month practical training experience as a Pre School teacher in
registered Pre School or early childhood education center.
