TOURNAMENT CONDITIONS

EAGLES' MONSOON CUP 2023

Sri Lanka Air Force Golf has organized the above-mentioned Board Event with the intention of adding a Second annual golf tournament to their golfing Calendar. Following are the Tournament conditions.

1. Date : Sunday 29th October 2023.

2. Venue : Eagles Golf Links, China Bay, Trincomalee.

3. Entry Fee : As advertised. Army, Navy and Air Force personnel who are not members of a golf club please contact the organizers regarding entry.

4. Eligibility : Active, amateur men and women golfers who are full members of Golf Clubs with an authentic handicap.

5. Juniors : Juniors who are under the age of 18 may participate, but they are not entitled to win any prizes.

6. Rules : Tournament will be played in accordance with the current rules of golf as laid down by the R&A Rules Limited and local rules printed on the scorecard and any additional local rules displayed on the tournament noticeboard.

7. Format : Net Stableford points off maximum handicap of 18 for men and 24 for women.

8. Starting Time : Shot-Gun start soon after the official group photograph but not later than 8.00am. Participants are urged to be present by the clubhouse soon after the group photograph for the briefing and to be transported to their respective Tees.

9. Caddies : Bag carriers will be allocated by the committee.

10. Handicap Limits : As this event is a BOARD EVENT, the handicap limit for men will be 18 or less and for women 24 or less. However, those who have higher handicaps may participate but their handicaps will be taken as 18 for men and 24 for women for calculating Stableford points. Others who do not have handicaps may also participate but their handicaps will be taken as Zero for calculation purposes.

11. Tees : WHITE TEES for men and RED TEES for women.

12. Competition : Men will Compete for the EAGLES' MONSOON CUP. Women will compete for the EAGLES' MONSOON TROPHY. Defense services personnel will compete for the EAGLES' MONSOON DEFENSE CHALLENGE TROPHY.

13. Longest Drive :Longest drive for all participants will be off the 1st Tee. The ball must be on the fairway between the lines.

14. Nearest the pin : Nearest to the pin for all participants will be off the 9th Tee. The ball must be on the green.

15. Six hidden holes competition : Open to all participants. Winner will be the player with the best total net Stableford points over the six hidden holes chosen by the Commander.

16. Commander’s Island Green Award : New Price will be awarded to the player Nearest to the pin on the Island Green with his first or Second Stroke.

17. The Draw : Will be displayed by 6.00pm on Saturday 28th October 2023.

18. Scorecards : Will be available by 6.30 am on the 29 October 2023 at the registration desk. Please collect your card, enter your name and playing handicap in the spaces provided, exchange with a fellow competitor for marking purposes. On completion of the round please cross check with your marker sign the card by yourself and your marker and handover the card to the official scorer who will be in the clubhouse. Once the card has been handed over to the scorer it will in the hands of the committee and no alterations or amendments can be done to your scorecard.

19. Doubtful Rulings : If a Rules official is not readily available to give you a ruling, please play two balls. You must make your intentions clear to your marker or a fellow competitor. You must nominate which ball to count, if the rules allow, prior to playing a stroke at either ball. On completion of your round and before handing over your card to the scorer please consult a rules official for clarification.

20. Transportation : As this event is a BOARD EVENT, no transportation of any kind will be permitted.

21. Mobile Phones : Mobile phones may only be used to communicate with the rules officials

22. Electronic Devices : Electronic or any other device may be used for measuring distances only. Any devices capable of measuring slopes and wind speeds are strictly prohibited.

23. Inclement Weather : If due to any unforeseen or dangerous condition arise and play has to be stopped, on hearing one long sounding of the siren play must stop and players must find shelter where necessary. On hearing two short soundings of the siren play must resume.

24. Slow Play : Slow players will be monitored, warned, penalized and finally disqualified in accordance with R&A recommendations.

25. Ties : All ties will be decided by a count back method taking the last 9 holes, last 6 holes, last 3 holes and the last hole. If that being equal the first 9 holes, first 6 holes, first 3 holes and the 9th hole will be considered in the same manner. (First 9 holes are the first 9 holes on the scorecard no matter where the player started the round.) If it is still tied, the player with the lower handicap will be the winner. If still tied the tied players will share the award for one year. If there is a tie in the Six hidden holes competition, the 1st hidden hole on the card out of the six followed by the next, so on will be considered. The player with a better score on any one of the holes will be the winner. If it is still tied the player with the lower handicap will be the winner. If still tied "toss of a coin" will decide the winner.

26. Prizes :

  1. Longest Drive - Ladies.
  2. Longest Drive - Gents.
  3. Nearest to the Pin - Ladies.
  4. Nearest to the Pin - Gents.
  5. Six Hidden Holes - Winner.
  6. Commander’s Island Green Award- Winner.
  7. Eagles Monsoon Defense Challenge Trophy - Runner-up.
  8. Eagles Monsoon Defense Challenge Trophy - Winner.
  9. Eagles Monsoon Trophy (Ladies) - Runner - up.
  10. Eagles Monsoon Cup - Runner-up.
  11. Eagles Monsoon Trophy (Ladies) - Winner.
  12. Eagles Monsoon Cup - Winner.

27. Closing of the Tournament : The Tournament is deemed to be closed when the price giving is completed.

28. TOURNAMENT COMMITTEE DECISION ON ALL MATTERS RELATING THIS TOURNAMENT IS FINAL.

THE TROPHIES AND AWARDS FOR THE EAGLES' MONSOON CUP 2023

1. Winner- Eagles' Monsoon Cup 2023: Awarded to the player who scores the highest aggregate in accordance with the tournament conditions.

2. Runner-up Eagles' Monsoon Cup 2023: Awarded to the player who scores the 2nd highest aggregate in accordance with the tournament conditions.

3. Ladies Winner - Eagles' Monsoon Trophy 2023: Awarded to the player who scores the highest aggregate of the ladies event in accordance with the tournament conditions.

4. Ladies Runner-up - Eagles' Monsoon Trophy 2023: Awarded to the player who scores the 2nd highest aggregate in accordance with the tournament conditions.

5. Monsoon Defence Challenge Trophy Gents 2023: Awarded to the competitor from tri-services who scores the highest aggregate in accordance with the tournament conditions.

6. Runner-up of the Monsoon Defence Challenge Trophy Gents 2023: Awarded to the competitor from tri-Services who scores the 2nd highest aggregate in accordance with the tournament conditions.

7. The Winner Nearest to the pin Gents: Awarded to the golfer who reaches nearest to the pin with his tee shot at the Hole No. 09 of the Course.

8. The Winner Nearest to the pin Ladies: Awarded to the golfer who reaches nearest to the pin with her tee shot at the Hole No. 09 of the Course.

9. The Winner Longest Drive Gents: Awarded to the golfer who hits/drives the longest distance from his tee position at the Hole No. 01 of the Course within the margins demarcated through the respective fairway.

10.The Winner Longest Drive Ladies: Awarded to the golfer who hits/drives the longest distance from her tee position at the Hole No. 01 of the Course within the margins demarcated through the respective fairway.

11. Six hidden holes competition: Open to all participants. Winner will be the player with the best total net Stableford points over the six hidden holes chosen by the Commander.

12. Commander’s Island Green Award: New Price will be awarded to the player Nearest to the pin on the Island Green with his first or Second Stroke.
